Developed for the renovation of an old warehouse in Tokyo for Couri Property Management. I was in charge of the concept design, space design and decoration for the site. We built and placed fourteen cubic rooms on casters in this 155 m² space, so that residents could move their rooms wherever they wanted to live. All the rooms, including the outside walls of the boxes, were expected to be customised by the residents.
An ancient Chinese tale was introduced to the place to encourage community among residents and their guests: a carp turns into a dragon after climbing a mountain stream, collecting powers from animals such as rabbits, tigers, snakes, hawks, bulls, deer and camels. The concept is that each resident becomes their own dragon by connecting organically with the others.
